Whale photography

Atlantic whale photography is the base where I started in 2007. I than had my first digital “point of shoot” camera. A great device for a newbie but I soon discovered that this kind of camera did not had the speed and sharpness that I expected. Soon I bought a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex camera) for in place with various types of lenses. Would you like to take nice and sharp pictures of sea mammals, and other marine wildlife, than a (semi) professional DSLR camera is a must. Together with a DSLR comes light strong lenses. The choices you have are zoom lenses or lenses with a fixed focal point.

Before you’re going to join a “Whale watching” excursion it is important that it is done responsibly. On the 1st place for the marine mammals and the 2nd place for yourself. It is therefore important that you select well, in advance, which organisation you want to join youre Whale watching excursion with and what kind of transport you will choose. These are the choises of transport you will have: a boat, catamaran, or a RIBB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). Each of these types of transport resources have their advantages and disadvantages. During a Whale watching excursion it is important to know it’s never a guarantee that you will see whales or seals and it is important that you stick to the opinions of the local people and the Whale watching organisations. There is often a short briefing given before you go on the Atlantic Ocean. Please, always follow these advices and take part in this kind of briefings.
